Author Guideline

Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Submission of articles on subjects of relevance to the journal is welcomed at any time. Authors interested in submitting a paper should send the manuscript using an online submission (Open Journal Systems). The submission should adhere to our guidelines and format.

Author(s) should provide editable source files for entire submission (including figures, tables and text graphics). Save files in an editable format, using the extension .doc/.docx for Word files and .tex for LaTeX files. We encourage author(s) use our LaTeX Template when preparing a LaTeX submission. Author(s) will be asked to provide all relevant editable source files upon submission or revision.

The manuscripts are preferably written in English, but when written in another language (e.g.: Malay), provision of English title, abstract, and keywords is compulsory.

The authors are obligated to ensure that the manuscript has been submitted solely to this journal and not submitted or published elsewhere. All submissions will be peer-reviewed. The Chief Editor has the final decision on publication. Accepted articles become the copyright of the journal. The journal published all articles with an eISSN number.

The similarity of Turnitin must not exceed 35%.

Preparation of Manuscripts

JMSI accepts research/original article and review articles. All manuscripts should adhere to the scope and policy of JMSI and should relate to mathematical sciences, computer sciences and informatics.

Manuscripts should be typed (with a wide margin and 1.5 lines spacing, Calibri (Font 12) on one side of A4 (30 x 21 cm) paper. A full-length research paper is between 8,000 to 15,000 words, a review paper may range between 8,000 to 20,000 words. For special purposes, such as distinguishing source code text or Mathematical equation, please use a 12-point italic Cambria Math font. Right margins should be justified, not ragged.

In the text, scientific names should be italicised.

Author(s) from discipline of mathematics are encourage to write 2020 Mathematics Subject Classification in the first page of manuscripts. Refer link  https://mathscinet.ams.org/mathscinet/msc/msc2020.html

In general, manuscripts should be organized in the following order:

Title - Should be clear, descriptive, and concise. It must reflect the whole content of the manuscripts.

Name of Author - All authors’ names must be listed in the order: First name, followed by last name. The corresponding author must be clearly indicated with an asterisk (*) at the back of the author’s name.

Affiliations - The complete address of the institution or organisation the author is associated with. This includes the department/faculty name (if any), institution name, street address, postal code, city/district, state, and country.

Corresponding Author Email - Provide only the email address of the corresponding author.

Abstract - A concise, factual, and structured abstract is required with a maximum length of 250 words. The abstract should state briefly the introduction, method, results, and discussion. Abbreviations when first appear should be mentioned in full. Avoid references. If any are essential to include, ensure that you cite the author(s) and year(s).

Keywords - Carefully provide a maximum of 5 keywords in lower case letters. Each keyword is separated by a comma. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Introduction - Introduction should contain the background information, research problem, research objectives/questions/hypotheses. Abbreviations should be defined and spelled out when first mentioned.  

Methods - Clearly details the procedures and materials used in a study, enabling others to understand how the research was conducted and potentially replicate it.

Results and Discussion - The results must clearly communicate key findings with no or minimal interpretive comment. It shall provide sufficient detail to justify any conclusions you draw later. Results can be grouped into a few categories. Report the most significant or general results first, then work toward more specific data. Include only those data that are relevant to the discussion that follows; raw data can be placed in an appendix.

Conclusions - The conclusion connects the findings to a larger context, such as the wider conversation about an issue and the journal theme. It suggests the implications of your findings or the importance of the topic. Asking questions or suggesting ideas for further research and revisiting your main idea or research question with new insight.

Acknowledgements - In a single paragraph, include any source of funding, including information on grants received or other contributors to the work. This section is mandatory.

Conflict of Interest Statement - The authors declare that this research was conducted in the absence of any self-benefits, commercial or financial conflicts, and declare the absence of conflicting interests with the funders. This section is mandatory.

Author Contributions Statement - All authors who are listed on the manuscript must have contributed to the paper. Each author’s contribution must be stated clearly, reflecting each contribution to the body of the work and manuscript.

References - This journal uses the IEEE referencing style. Number references in the order they appear in your article. 

*Tables – Every table should have a caption, which placed above the tables. Only horizontal lines should be used within a table to distinguish the column headings from the body of the table, and immediately above and below the table. Tables must be embedded into the text and not supplied separately.

*Figures – Every figure should have a caption, which placed below the figures. All photographs, schemas, graphs, and diagrams are to be referred to as figures. Figures must be embedded into the text and not supplied separately. Preferred format of figures is PNG and JPEG, with high-quality version.

All figures and tables must be cited in the body text as Figure 1 or Table 1 (Figures 1 to 3 or Tables 1 to 3 if multiple figures or tables are mentioned in the text). Place your figure or table immediately at the end of the respective paragraph.

Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Authors who feel their English language manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors and to conform to correct scientific English may wish to use the English Language Editing service. The manuscript written in a good Malay version is acceptable. Authors may download the manuscript template for the Malay version here. Title, abstract and keywords should be written in bilingual.
